Admissions
School Admissions Procedure
Admissions to Edith Cavell Primary are designed to be clear, fair and supportive for families. We welcome applications from parents and carers of children who are ready to start primary education, and we aim to guide you through each step with helpful information and timely responses.
Our admissions process follows the relevant arrangements for schools in the UK. Details about application deadlines, required documents and how to apply are published through the local authority or the school admissions service. If you are unsure which route to use, our team can point you to the correct guidance and explain what you will need to submit.
We encourage families to visit and get to know our school community where possible. If you have questions about starting dates, places, or support for your child, please contact us. We will do our best to help you understand how Edith Cavell Primary can meet the needs of your child and provide a positive start to their education.
At Edith Cavell, all our children enter the Reception Year in the September of the academic year in which they become 5. All children are then full-time within a few weeks.
Mid-year applications should be submitted to Bedford Borough Council as above.
If you are looking for your child to join Edith Cavell Primary School, either as their first school into Reception Class, or into another year group and would like to visit before applying for a place, please contact the school office on 01234 345636 to make an appointment. A member of our staff will be pleased to give you a tour of the school.
All applications for school places should be made through Bedford Borough Council, who act as the School’s Admissions Authority.

Although, you will find lots of information about our school on our website, visiting us will help you to know whether this really is the right school for your child.
